Staff Spotlight: Dakotah

Dakotah is our Harvest Team Lead. You may recognize him from our Steph Burr Skateboard Giveaway. If you know Dakotah, you know he skates. But he also designs apparel and is a skilled screen-printer. Find out more about Dakotah:

What’s your favorite thing about working at Theraplant?

I'd say my favorite thing about working at this heavenly facility is being able to use my noggin and expand on ideas with my fellow co-workers. The people that help keep this facility afloat all have a progressive and open mindset that make it incredibly enjoyable to work beside and chat about new ideas, I'm able to spend a fair amount of my time researching and developing new practices and for that I'm extremely grateful.

Other than that I'd say getting into a good flow and listening to music with my harvest team is an absolute dream. We kill it... Literally.

What does your perfect day off look like?

That's easy... I'd wake up in a village in Peru to a shaman at my door. After a solid morning meditation, we'd eat some breakfast (classic egg & cheese sandwich) and go about our day together. I'd spend the first part of my day shadowing him as he goes through his daily processes of tending to the villagers to learn about holistic medicines and healing. The shaman also oddly has a particular interest in creating sustainable clothing and screen printing in which that part of the day I take the reins. We would create a beautiful work of art to use for a design and spend our evening going through the process of screen printing just the right amount of recycled clothing for a pop up shop we're planning for the villagers the next day. Once we've finished our screening for the day, we would spend our night skateboarding and bonding together in the streets of Peru which just so happens to have some pretty sweet skate spots. The next day (after the pop up shop of course) I would then convince the shaman to come back to the states with me to work at Theraplant on Monday.
